Who we are

This website, bcdis.co.uk, is the public website of the British College of Dental Implant Surgery (BCDIS), a UK postgraduate dental education provider.

The data controller for information collected through this website is AD Implant.com Limited, trading as the British College of Dental Implant Surgery (company number 06431009), registered office: 107 Cleethorpe Road, Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, DN31 3ER.

AD Implant.com Limited is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office as a data protection fee payer, registration reference Z1265819.

What this policy covers

This policy covers this public website only. Our e-learning platform for enrolled students, and any future member or applicant portal, are separate systems with their own privacy notices — this site only links to them and shares nothing with them.

What we collect

This website holds no student, patient or clinical data and has no user accounts. The only personal information we collect is what you choose to send us through a form:

• Contact enquiry — your name, email address and message.
• Newsletter sign-up — your email address.
• Application form (retired — see below) — your name, email address, phone number, country of practice, the course you are interested in and, optionally, your dental qualifications, minor oral surgery experience, hospital posts, current practice details, implant experience and courses attended, your reasons for applying, and a message. The form also records a signed declaration — your signature, drawn or typed, and the submission date — and your confirmation that you have read our fees & financing page.
• Membership application (retired — see below) — your name, email address, phone number, the membership grade you are applying for, whether you hold GDC (UK) or overseas dental registration and your registration or licence number, your country and city or town of practice and, optionally, your implant dentistry qualifications, your years of experience in implant dentistry and your reasons for applying. The form also records a signed declaration — your signature, drawn or typed, and the submission date — your acknowledgement that membership carries fees which we confirm in writing before assessment, and whether you consent to a public register entry (see “The public register” below).
• Open day registration (retired — see below) — your name, email address, practice role and, optionally, your GDC number.
• Scholarship interest — your name, email address and a short supporting statement.
• MSc (URJC) interest — your name, email address and, optionally, your phone number, country of practice, preferred route and a short note on your qualifications.

Every form asks only for what is needed and includes a consent checkbox and a link to this policy. We do not ask for — and you should not send — health information or any other special-category data through this website. Forms include an invisible anti-spam field; no CAPTCHA service is used.

What we never collect on this site

No payment or card details (no payment is taken on this website), no patient or clinical records, no student assessment data, and no data from the e-learning platform.

Lawful basis

We process form submissions on the basis of your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), given through the checkbox on each form. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing [email protected] or, for the newsletter, using the unsubscribe link in any email.

Applying and registering now happen in the members area

Since August 2026, applying for a course or for membership, and reserving a place at an open day, all happen in the College’s members area — a separate service with its own privacy notice. Those forms are no longer on this website, and the pages that carried them now tell you where to go instead.

We still hold what was submitted through them before then. The sections that follow describe why, and for how long.

Membership applications

Applying for membership now happens in the College’s members area, which is a separate service with its own privacy notice. Nothing about a membership application is collected on this website any more, and our application page only tells you how to go about it.

Until August 2026 that page carried the application form itself. We still hold applications submitted through it, and we process them because doing so is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract with you (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)) — assessing your application for the grade you chose. No payment was taken on this website, and we confirm membership fees in writing before an application is assessed. Unsuccessful applications are deleted after 12 months.

Diploma course interest (form retired)

Until August 2026 our fees & application page offered a diploma course-interest form (your name, email address, phone number, country of practice, dental qualifications and, optionally, your implant experience and reasons for applying). That form has been retired — applications are now made through our application form — but we retain interest records submitted before then, as set out under “How long we keep it”, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time.

MSc (URJC) interest

On our MSc programme page (when published) you can register your interest in the Master of Science in Implant Dentistry, which is delivered and awarded by Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Madrid). Submitting the form is an expression of interest only — not an application, and no payment is taken. With your consent, we share the details you provide with Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (in Spain, within the EEA) so they can support and assess your application. Our lawful basis is your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time by emailing [email protected].

Watching gated lecture videos (education pages)

Some lecture recordings ask you to register before playing. We collect your name and email address, and — if you choose to provide it — your GDC or equivalent professional registration number, together with the consent statement you accepted and when. We use this to provide access to the recording and to understand professional interest in our education programme. This information is stored in our CRM (Brevo, EU data centres) and retained for 24 months. Providing a registration number is optional and does not affect access.

Delegate stories

Delegate testimonials on this site are published only with the delegate’s written consent, and a delegate can amend or withdraw their story at any time by emailing [email protected].

The public register

With your consent, we publish an entry for you on our public register of members at bcdis.co.uk/register. Each entry shows: your name; your professional registration number (your GDC number, or — for members registered outside the UK — your home regulator and number); your membership grade and the date you were admitted to it; your town and country (never a street address); your certificate number; your membership status; and, where you have separately consented, your photograph. We publish no contact details, no home or practice address, and none of the private information you gave in your application.

Two clinicians can share a name; the registration number is the unique key that tells them apart and lets anyone cross-check your entry against the statutory regulator’s own public register. The number is already public there, so publishing it alongside your consented entry adds no exposure.

Publication is based on your consent (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time — withdrawal removes your public entry, and we keep the private record of your award. The one exception is a membership removed by the Board: we keep that entry public — including the registration number, which identifies exactly whom the removal concerns — for six years from the effective date, on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in warning the profession; after that it is delisted publicly and retained privately.

Where your data goes

Form submissions are delivered to our customer-relationship system, Brevo — hosted in Brevo’s EU data centres — via a small relay service we run on DigitalOcean (Amsterdam, EU). The relay passes your submission on and stores nothing. Brevo and DigitalOcean act as our data processors. Our team is notified by email of enquiries, event registrations, and application, scholarship and course-interest submissions. We also send an automatic acknowledgement of your submission to the email address you provide; if you reply to it, your message reaches us directly.

We do not sell personal data, share it with advertisers, or use it for automated decision-making or profiling. Your data stays in the UK/EU; if we ever needed to transfer it elsewhere, we would only do so with appropriate safeguards under UK GDPR.

How long we keep it

• Contact and application enquiries: 12 months after our last exchange with you.
• Newsletter: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
• Membership applications: unsuccessful applications are kept for 12 months; successful applications become part of your membership record.
• Diploma course interest (form retired): 12 months after our last exchange with you.
• Open day registrations: 3 months after the event.
• Scholarship interest: 12 months, or the end of the relevant award cycle if sooner.
• MSc (URJC) interest: 12 months after our last exchange with you.

When a period expires we delete the record from Brevo.

Analytics and cookies

This website sets no cookies. If we measure visits we use Plausible, a cookieless, privacy-focused analytics tool hosted in the EU: it collects aggregate counts only and cannot identify you. See our Cookie Policy.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to: access your data; have it corrected; have it erased; restrict or object to its processing; data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting processing before the withdrawal). To exercise any of these, email [email protected] — we respond within one month.

Children

This website is aimed at dental professionals and prospective postgraduate students. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
